Oliver RCMP were kept busy over the weekend with an MVA, structure fire, vehicle theft and a motorist who failed to stop.
On April 24 at 3:53 p.m. police assisted the Oliver Fire Department with a single vehicle accident on Highway 97 in the 5400 block. A blue Dodge pickup truck was travelling north when witnesses observed it suddenly veer off the road into a power pole. Paramedics transported the 55-year-old Osoyoos resident to the hospital with unspecified injuries. Police say alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
On the same day at 8:54 p.m. police assisted the fire department at the scene of a structure fire on River Road. Police say the residents escaped without injury and the suspected cause was a wood stove.
On April 25 at 8:53 p.m. police attempted to stop a green Ford Ranger with an obstructed rear plate on Black Sage Road. The vehicle failed to stop and accelerated away at a high rate of speed northbound. It was not pursued and was last observed turning onto Pineridge Drive.
On April 26 at 8:43 a.m. a Tucelnuit Road resident reported that their brown 2001 Toyota Corolla was stolen from their residence some time in the past two days.
