The Town of Oliver is spending approximately $5,000 of its COVID-19 restart funds to promote its mobile app. The newly developed app includes features allowing residents to access online services to view and receive property tax and utility bills.
Oliver’s new town council will spend up to $7,000 to undertake strategic planning in the new year. That was the decision made during council’s inaugural meeting last week. The day-and-a-half exercise in January will help set the town’s priorities and budget for the four-year term. The money will be spent on hiring a consultant and booking a venue with ancillary costs.
The Town has learned that paramedic resources will be expanded in the community. The BC Ambulance Service informed council that Oliver is one of 31 communities that will receive more permanent full-time paramedics.
The South Okanagan Chamber of Commerce plans to apply for new funding from the Economic Trust of the Southern Interior (ETSI-BC) for the purpose of business retention, expansion, and engagement, and they do so with the full support of town council, who voted unanimously to add a letter of support to the chamber’s application.
