Sylvia Clift nee Matlock

October 6, 1946 – July 28, 2025

It is with great sadness that her family announces the passing of Sylvia. Sylvia passed away peacefully at her home in Osoyoos after a brief battle with cancer.

Sylvia was predeceased by her parents Dorothy and Stanley Matlock, and she is survived by her husband Clayton, daughter Stacey (Ted) grandsons Brenden and Devyn (Claire), her sister Lindsay and her nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her extended family and many friends worldwide.

Sylvia very much enjoyed her summers in Osoyoos and winters in Freeport Bahamas and the many travels in between and elsewhere.

Sylvia enjoyed adventures and had many. Her first was right after she was born on the trip home to Mossleigh from the Calgary general hospital when her mom lost control of the car, left the road and rolled the car. All survived unscathed but her mom’s hair turned white a few days later. At the age of 17 she left Lethbridge and went to Orange Coast college in Southern California graduating with a degree in police science. Sylvia worked for the City of Calgary where she formed many lasting friendships, retiring in 1997 to head out on some new adventures while she and Clayton lived in Libya, Kazakhstan and England.

Sylvia was a passionate golfer and served as the president of the Turner Valley Golf and Country Club. She was also very involved with AWC while living overseas and in the Bahamas. Sylvia was full of life, loved to be around family, meet new people and to have fun and travel. She was rather feisty and determined and could not be out shopped.

There will be no service, the family will have a get together next summer at the lake on the one-year anniversary of her passing to celebrate all the memories from our days hanging out at the lake.

In lieu of flowers or cards a donation can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke foundation.
