Sharon Rachel Gecse (nee Graf)
November 28, 1943 – October 13, 2024
Sharon Rachel Gecse (Graf) was born on November 28, 1943 to Walter and Rachel Graf. She was the youngest of two children. She was raised with her older brother, Mervin Graf, on the family orchard just north of Osoyoos.
Shortly after graduation she married and moved to Goldsburo, North Carolina where she gave birth to her daughter Pamela. After about four years Sharon moved back to Osoyoos with Pam to be near her mom, Rachel.
Shortly after her move back to Osoyoos she married Joe Gecse and the three became a family. In 1972 Sharon and Joe built their first home and welcomed twin boys, Derek and Dorel. Together they enjoyed skiing vacations and traveling around the world. Early in her life, Sharon spent time on the School Board and helping out with the Osoyoos pageantry. Sharon also worked in the community as a bookkeeper and a bank teller.
Sharon took great pride in landscaping her yard and caring for her beautiful gardens that were admired by many. Her other great passions were baking and cooking for her family and friends, and hosting pool parties in the summer. In her retirement, Sharon enjoyed playing bridge and became a pillar in the bridge community. She will be missed dearly by all whose lives she touched.
Sharon was predeceased by her mother Rachel Graf, her father Walter Graf and her husband Joe Gecse.
Sharon is survived by her daughter Pam, sons Derek (Leanne) and Dorel, her four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, her brother Mervin, and her nieces and nephews.
As per Sharon’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral or service.
