Sandra Lynn Janzen

February 21, 1953 – September 24, 2024

Sandra Lynn Janzen (Yeomans) beloved wife of David Janzen passed away suddenly on September 24th, 2024 at the age of 68 years old.

Sandy, as she was known to us, was born on February 21st, 1956 in Edmonton, Alberta to Al and Kay Yeomans.  She was raised in Edmonton along with her two younger brothers.  She was blessed with a childhood with close ties to her maternal grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins who all lived in the Edmonton area.

She met David Janzen at cousins Lorne and Rosemary’s wedding in Saskatchewan in the Spring of 1978 and began what would be a whirlwind courtship, resulting in their wedding on November 4th, 1978.

Dave and Sandy began their lives together in Dave’s hometown of Oliver, BC in a modest mobile home.  Their family started with a daughter Jennifer Lynn Janzen born on September 14th, 1981 and was completed with the birth of their son Michael David Janzen born on June 13th, 1984.  They moved into their current family home in 1984 where they raised their children surrounded by friends and loved ones.  She had such a special place in her heart for all children and ran a daycare in her home for many years.  She was a beloved “Aunt” for her numerous nieces and nephews.   The door to their home was always open, the gatherings were common, and there was always too much food.

Sandy and Dave were blessed with 4 grandchildren.  Sandy enjoyed spoiling the grandkids with endless trips to Dollarama, competitive games of mini-golf, and a freezer full of ice cream treats.

Until her passing, Sandy worked at KH Craig in Osoyoos and will be missed by Terry and her numerous clients.

Sandy is predeceased by her parents John (Al) and Kathleen (Kay) Yeomans, both her paternal and maternal grandparents and numerous Aunts and Uncles.

Sandy is survived by her husband of almost 46 years David; her daughter Jennifer (Jenn) McLean and her husband Marty; her son Michael (Mike) Janzen; and the lights of her world: her 4 grandchildren Audrey, Lauren, Isaiah and Cody.  She is further survived by her brothers Edward (Ed) Yeomans and his wife Eileen, and Russell (Russ) Yeomans and his wife Darlene; her sisters-in-law Irma Malroney and Avaleen Gibson; and by many extended family and friends, including her chosen sisters Janet Eriksen-Miller and Beth Garrish.

Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 6th, 2024 at the Oliver Community Centre.  All are welcome.

Sandy often said lime green was “her colour” and we ask those who wish to wear green in some way to honour Sandy.
