Rosalie Joan Halverson
July 16, 1938 – March 8, 2024
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our mother Rosalie Joan Halverson. She passed peacefully in her sleep on Friday, March 8, 2024, after a long battle with dementia/ Alzheimer’s.
Rosalie was born in Addie, Idaho and graduated from Bonners Ferry High School. Rosalie was a long-time resident of Osoyoos after arriving in 1970 with her son Allen Lewis, her husband Nick Stooshinoff, and their daughter Tammie Ann. Rosalie retired from Shoppers Drug Mart where she worked as a sales clerk for 20+ years. Rosalie found much happiness in being able to interact with the public while performing her job. Rosalie always had a smile on her face and made others smile with a joke or words of kindness. She was well-liked by many and loved by many more.
Listening to music and going dancing, or boogieing as she called it, was her joy. When she met her gentleman friend Floyd Kennedy, a widow, in the mid-2000s she found her perfect match. Floyd treated Rosalie like a Queen – they especially enjoyed going dancing together. Rosalie also enjoyed traveling. She took a trip across Canada with some of her closest lady friends and found that trip to be a highlight of her life. Rosalie and Floyd were also able to embark on a cruise to Alaska and she was so elated from that experience.
Rosalie adored her children and grandchildren. She loved to host dinner parties with her friends and family. Rosalie was a skilled cook of wholesome comfort food.
Rosalie is preceded in death by her parents Clarence Halverson and Annabelle Dunham, her brother Roger Halverson, sister-in-law Charlene Halverson and half-siblings Donald Dehlbom, Gene Dehlbom, Eileen Taylor (nee Dehlbom), step-son-in-law Rod MacDonald, step-son Ray Stooshinoff, and step-son Fred Stooshinoff.
Rosalie is survived by her daughter Tammie Roberts (nee Stooshinoff), son Allen Lewis (Lisa), step-daughter Gail MacDonald; her grandchildren Tiffany Roberts-Jones (Dakota), Taylor Lewis-Kerch (Ryan), and Caleb Lewis; her great-grandchildren Jewel Jones, Evan Jones, Tristin Jones, Riley Lewis-Kerch, Clark Lewis-Kerch, Lydia Lewis-Kerch, Tony MacDonald (Jennifer), Scott MacDonald (Kara), Stacey Boyer (Darren), Kelly Stooshinoff, and Vicki Stooshinoff and numerous more great-grandchildren. And a half-sister Deanna Dunham-Garrard.
A memorial service was held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the Nunes-Pottinger Funeral Service in Oliver, BC.
