Paul Edward Gifford

February 22, 1950 – January 5, 2024

It is with sadness we announce that Paul Edward Gifford passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 5, 2024. He is predeceased by his parents, Henry and Elsie Gifford and his brothers, James and David Gifford. Paul is survived by his wife, Mary Gifford of 47 years; his daughters, Rachel and Rebekah; grandchildren, Joshua-Caleb, Ezra, Seth, Mathias, Samuel, Maiden; his brother, Philip, and his nieces and nephews. Paul was born and raised in Brockville, Ontario. He moved west to Jasper, Alberta, working for CN, where he met his future wife. In 1979, while working in the logging industry, Paul suffered a tragic accident that left him a quadriplegic. Despite the injury that nearly ended his life, Paul fought his way back and surprised the medical community, his family and friends with his vigor and determination. Thanks to the tireless care and devotion of his wife Mary, Paul lived 44 more years and was able to see his children and grandchildren grow up. Paul never let anything stop him from pursuing his goals. He continued to enjoy art and hunting, tackling any perceived limitation with singleminded tenacity. He was a man of intense passion and committed faith, never giving up hope of a brighter tomorrow. His loss will be felt by many. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday May 18th at Park Drive Church, 6570 Park Drive, Oliver, BC. We are grateful for the support of the community at this time.
