Patrick ‘Rick’ Peplow

July 7, 1950 – November 4, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rick Peplow, on November 4, 2024, at the age of 74. Rick passed away peacefully with his wife Paddy by his side.

Rick was predeceased by his Parents, Arthur and Effie Peplow and his sister Stevie Peplow.

Rick is survived by the love of his life Paddy, his four children Patrick (Cayce), Katelin (Darcy), Leah and Sean (Patricia) and his grandchildren Caleb, Grady, Elliott, Kai, Maren, Arthur and Maeve. He had many cousins, nieces and nephews that were all so important to him.

Rick was born in New Westminster and grew up in Coquitlam. He had an amazing love for hockey and became a skilled player known as “Peppy” by his fans. He had many adventures with his best buddies Bob and Ramsey by his side. In 1988, Rick and his family moved to Osoyoos, creating a beautiful and fulfilling life.

He was a devoted husband, father, gampy and friend. Dad was always ready to do whatever was needed, whether it was jumping in the car and driving hours to help his kids, showing up for renovations that required his expertise or going above and beyond to make Gampy memories with his 7 grandchildren. He lived to take care of us, and there is just not enough room to list the ways he did this.

Rick was a talented and artistic woodworker. He enjoyed spending time in his workshop where he would fix, create and give new life to old things. Dad and Mom were always competing to see who could find the best treasure, for the best price on their thrifting adventures. You could always count on a call from Dad letting you know the great things he found, and how he spent less than Mom. His family and friends were the lucky recipients of his many creations. Rick loved spending time on his farm, raising many animals and chickens, and growing a huge garden that stocked the veggie stand, where they sold their veggies, pies, jams and farm fresh eggs on an honour system.

Rick’s second passion in life was the love of the ocean and his yearly fishing trips to Bamfield with his sons, Sean and Patrick, brother-in-law Bill and good friend Paul, For many years we had our summer vacations in Port Renfrew, and these times with family and friends were held in his heart forever. He spent many hours in the sun on the deck of the Seabeam Lodge in Bamfield where he would catch up with family, old and new friends and enjoy an ice-cold beer!

Dad will be so greatly missed by his family and friends. In lieu of of flowers, please donate to the Canadian Cancer Society. It’s five o’clock somewhere, have a beer and think of Rick. A Celebration of Life will be held in Osoyoos in the spring at a date to be determined.
