Maria Lourdes Costa
December 18, 1934 – November 6, 2024
It’s with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Maria Lourdes. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, after a life well-lived.
Lourdes was born in Maia, Sao Miguel, and in her 20s, she bravely moved to Canada, settling in Osoyoos to begin a new chapter of her life. There, she worked hard and built a legacy of love, generosity, and laughter that will never be forgotten. Lourdes was the beloved matriarch of her family, where her faith, kindness, and spirit made her a source of strength and joy.
A devout Catholic, Lourdes’ faith was the foundation of her life. She lived each day with compassion and a giving heart, always ready to help those in need. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she cherished her three children, four grandchildren, and three great- grandchildren, all who adored her deeply. Lourdes’ nurturing heart and playful sense
of humour will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Though she had a gentle and generous soul, Lourdes was also known for her mischievous nature. She had a talent for lighthearted pranks that kept those around her laughing. Her warmth, kindness, and unforgettable laughter will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Lourdes’ life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and family. Although she will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to guide and comfort us through the years ahead.
The family of Lourdes would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Tarr and the staff at the South Okanagan General Hospital for their kindness and care through these difficult days.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Lourdes at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 16th, 2024 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Osoyoos followed by a committal at the Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery.
