
Manuel Joaquim Texeira De Morais
November 5, 1938 – April 5, 2025
On Saturday, April 5, 2025, Mr. Manuel Joaquim Texeira De Morais passed away peacefully at the South Okanagan General Hospital surrounded by family at the age of 86 years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joao and Maria da Conceicao De Morais; sister, Helena De Morais Nunes (Joao) and brother, Antonio De Morais.
Manuel will be fondly remembered by his loving family including wife, Maria; daughters, Anabela Morais and Claudia Morais; grandsons, Brandon (Maryniel) Demchuk and Bryan (Coral) Demchuk; and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his first great-grandchild; siblings, Beatriz De Morais (Pereira), Amalia De Morais (Ribeiro), Fatima De Morais (Vilela), Norberta De Morais (Sousa), Mercedes De Morais (Chaves) and Luis De Morais; 24 nephews and nieces in Portugal and Mozambique as well as many extended family.
In his younger years, Manuel served in the Mozambique Army and was the owner of a merchandise store in Mozambique. In 1978, Manuel immigrated to Canada with his wife, Maria, and their two daughters. The family settled in Oliver, British Columbia, where Manuel and Maria purchased an orchard and dedicated themselves to producing high-quality fruit. Later, launching the Golden Mile Fruit Market with his daughter Claudia, providing the local community with fresh produce.
Manuel also was a member and served as a Director of the Okanagan Portuguese Club of Oliver and attended Christ the King Catholic Church in Oliver.

Prayers will be recited at 9:30 am, followed by the funeral mass at 10:00 am, Monday April 14, 2025 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Oliver, BC. Viewing will be available prior to the mass.
