Lawrence “Larry” Edwin Brunet

June 18, 1937 – April 9, 2024

After a brief and courageous battle with cancer, Larry passed away peacefully surrounded by of his family.

He was predeceased by his wife, Doris Brunet and his daughter, Sandy Brunet.

Larry is survived by his daughters, Donna Roman (Harvie) and Diana Petkau (Colin); grandchildren, Andrea Bratton (Jay), Lacey Petkau and Jeffery Petkau (Sam); great-grandchildren, Shayna Bratton (Devon), Matts Bratton (Maddy), Emma and Ainsley Peace, Scarlett and Kane Petkau; numerous sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews as well as his lifelong friends, Dick Flintoff and Bud Fraser.

After a career in the Oil and Gas Industry in Alberta, Doris and Larry moved to Osoyoos in 1979 and bought Lakeview Grocery, he loved helping out the townspeople in our community. The store was the gathering place to visit and to shop especially the candy section. After selling Lakeview Grocery, Larry was proud and honoured to work at the Elks Golden Villa for the next 33 years running the maintenance department.  No job was too small, he cared so much for all the residents at the Elks Golden Villa.

When Larry wasn’t working, watching Curling, Old Westerns, Reality and Games shows were spent in his favourite easy chair.

Larry loved family dinners together and he looked forward to Thursday dinners spent with Harvie and Colin. He especially enjoyed traveling to Edmonton to visit with all his relatives and dear friends.
Family and friends meant everything to him. We will all miss him dearly.

From all our hearts a special thanks to Dr. Lorraine Kane, The Penticton Regional Hospital, to the incredible and caring doctors, nurses and support staff.  You are all unsung hero’s, we can’t say “Thank You” enough.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted at the Elks Golden Villa, by cash or cheque in his honour.

As per Larry’s wishes there will only be a private graveside service with family.
