May 1, 1931 – December 26, 2025

On Friday, December 26th, 2025, Helena De Frietas Loura passed away suddenly at the age of 94. She is predeceased by her husband, John Loura. 
Helena is survived by her sons, John (Laura) and David Loura; daughter Margareta Tavares; grandchildren Kelsey, Evan, Tyler, Cody (Katrina), Jessy, Kegan (Jordan), Amanda (Troy), and Blake (Shaylyn); and great-grandchildren Charleigh, Theo, Maisie, and Lynden.

Helena worked for 15 years at the Monashee Co-Op. She enjoyed travelling with her husband and over the years visited California, Hawaii, Reno, Vegas, Portugal, Ontario and Boston. She was a volunteer with the Catholic Women’s League and a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Osoyoos.
She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, garden and bake bread and cookies.

A Funeral Mass was held for Helena on Wednesday, January 7th at St. Anne Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Helena’s honour to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the Desert Valley Hospice Society.
