David Swinnerton Dyer

On August 17, 2024, David (Dave) Dyer passed peacefully away at Mariposa Gardens Community & Retirement Living after a long illness.

He is survived by his wife, Beverley, of 52 years and brother, Patrick of Toulouse, France as well as several nieces and nephews in Canada and England.

Dave retired as Sheriff from the Attorney- Generals Department in Burnaby in August of 1988. At this time he and his wife moved for the winter months to Yuma, AZ. Still, with a strong desire to continue in law enfor9eijlent he joined, as a volunteer, the Search & Rescue Division of the Yuma County Sheriff where he went on to receive two Member of the Year awards.

He spent almost 30 years with that division interacting and enjoying the camaraderie of the Border Patrol, Marine Corp and Sheriffs Department.

It was also during this time that he and Bev once again pursued their life-long desire of traveling and went on to visit 12 countries. Nevada, Malaysia and Australia being their treasured favorites.

Dave always loved exercising and the outdoors and in recent years spent many hours “walking the walk” on the streets of Osoyoos. Lately, his favorite and last few months and weeks was the “Pioneer Walkway” where his old and new friends would stop and say hello.

Thanks to the staff from Interior Health, the staff at Mariposa Gardens and Dr. DeVries.
