Catherine Ann Daminato
1953-2024
Catherine (Cathy) Ann Daminato of Osoyoos, British Columbia, passed away on Sunday, February 25th, 2024 at the age of 70 years, after a courageous battle with cancer. Cathy was a person of many talents. She was quick-witted, charming and had a great sense of humour. Cathy was an avid reader, golfer, painter, camper and a fabulous cook. Her greatest gift was her ability to engage with others; exuding warmth and compassion. She met the love of her life, Paul while working in Yellowknife, N.W.T. They were married in 1981 and raised two beautiful and accomplished daughters in Coquitlam, British Columbia, before retiring to their favourite place, Osoyoos. Throughout her lifetime, Cathy made it a priority to contribute to her community and various organizations. Cathy’s academic achievements were notable. She graduated as an Ontario Scholar, earned a B.Sc. (Life Sciences with Honours) from Queen’s University, an MBA from the University of British Columbia and an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. She enjoyed a successful fundraising career, working in leadership roles at BCIT, the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation and Simon Fraser University. Cathy was honoured to be awarded the Association of Fundraising Professionals Giving Hearts Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014. Cathy is survived by her husband of 43 years, Paul, her two daughters Angela (Reggie) and Laura (Rob), and three precious grandchildren, Henry, Sophie and Samaya as well as her siblings Brenda (Warren), Christine (Jeff) and Mark (Andrea). Cathy is predeceased by her parents Martin and Velma (nee Clarke) Rollefson. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider donating to the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation Oncology Campaign (Penticton Regional Hospital) where she received excellent care and treatment, or a charity of your choice.
