Bernice Margaret Jones (“Bea”)
June 5, 1933 – December 28, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bernice Margaret Jones, affectionately known as Bea, on December 28, 2024, at the age of 91. A long-time resident of Osoyoos, British Columbia, Bea lived a life filled with love, kindness, and adventure.
Bea dedicated her early years to her family as a homemaker before enjoying a rewarding career as a dental assistant in Osoyoos. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Leslie Alexander Jones, known as Alex or Les, whom she loved dearly, as well as her parents, sister Adeline, brother Leonard Tanner, and sister-in-law Anna Mae Tanner.
Bea embraced life with an adventurous spirit and a deep appreciation for simple pleasures. She traveled extensively, enjoying visits to Mexico, Jamaica, Hawaii, Belize, Europe, and the USA, where she particularly loved her casino trips with friends and daughter, Lynda.
She was an avid reader, and found joy in solving jigsaw puzzles. Music and dancing were close to her heart, and her weekly luncheons with dear friends brought her great happiness. Bea was a formidable Scrabble Upwords player and often won at card games like Cribbage and Nickel Rummy. Your nickels, dimes, and quarters were not safe when playing with Bea!
Bea had a love of gardening, especially her rosebeds, still in bloom at Christmas. She grew a plentiful harvest of tomatoes, grapes, and vegetables. Her birdbath brought her endless joy as she watched and welcomed local and visiting birds, always ready with fresh water and a keen eye to identify each species. Bea’s garden was a true reflection of her warmth and love for nature.
Above all, Bea’s greatest love was her family. She leaves a legacy of four cherished generations. She is survived by her four children Doug, Lynda (Gerald), Ken (Debbie) and Marie; six grandchildren, Tracy (Trevor), Brad (Jodi), Dan (Leslie), Lori, Katlin, and Morgan; six great-grandchildren Kevin (Ali), Demara (Konrad), Roman, Sharman, Alexandria (Adison) and Jordan (Nick); two great-great-grandchildren (Ava and Leo), and many more extended family members who adored her.
She will be remembered for her sweet and kind spirit, her infectious smile, and her unwavering devotion to her loved ones. Bea was blessed with good health throughout her long life, and her daily walks were a source of joy and reflection.
As per Bea’s request, there will be no formal service held. We will honour her request and remember Bea’s remarkable journey in our thoughts and fond memories.
Bea’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and the beauty of simple joys. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew her.
