Anyone who has been a part of the organization of a community event knows that volunteers are the backbone of any great event.
Oliver is full of incredible volunteers that have a lot of skills and experience to offer, and the Oliver Sunshine Festival committee is asking for people to sign up to help out at the annual family event July 8-9 in Oliver Community Park.
Some of the areas that require volunteers include supervising the use of inflatables and helping children make prepared crafts in the Fun4Life Kidzone; greeting visitors at the main entrance; giving out information and ensuring alcoholic drinks stay inside the licenced area; and keeping the site clear of garbage and ensuring recyclable items are put in the proper receptacles.
Volunteer shifts are three-four hours in length and volunteers are needed Friday, July 8 from 5-10 pm and Saturday, July 9 from 10 am to 10 pm.
Volunteers will be given an orientation to their tasks, have access to a cool comfortable place to rest during the day, cold drinks and snacks and are invited to an appreciation dinner following the event.
Anyone 12 years or older who completes a criminal record check can volunteer at the Oliver Sunshine Festival.
Those Oliver residents who enjoy working with others, are friendly and respectful and want to enjoy live music and family entertainment first-hand are encouraged to contact Natalie Korsovetski at [email protected] to choose their preferred shift and duties.
