A driver claimed that he didn’t run a stop sign in Oliver on Tuesday, but video surveillance proved otherwise.
Oliver RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Kootenay Street and Hillcrest Avenue at 4 p.m. on August 16. It involved a 2003 Jeep Liberty and a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan.
Police report the Volkswagen failed to stop at a stop sign, which caused the Jeep to broadside the VW.
An officer viewed nearby surveillance video that confirmed the VW failed to yield to the stop sign, contrary to what the driver claimed.
The offending motorist was issued a ticket with fines.
No serious injuries were reported, according to police.
