PRICE TAG FOR SEWER PROJECT: $6.4 MILLION

Residents of Osoyoos Lake’s northwest shore whose properties will be serviced by the extension of the Town of Osoyoos’s sewer system got the lowdown on some of the final details of the project at an information session on Nov. 26.
Roughly 100 people showed up to the session at the Sonora Community Centre which was hosted by representatives of the Town of Osoyoos, the Regional District Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) and TRUE Consulting, the Town’s engineering consultant.

ROUGHLY 70,000 SOCKEYE SALMON RETURN TO SOUTH OKANAGAN

So far, roughly 70,000 adult sockeye salmon have returned to the South Okanagan this fall.
Howie Wright, the Okanagan Nation Alliance’s fisheries program manager, said between 50,000 to 80,000 salmon were expected to return to spawning grounds near the McIntyre Dam north of Oliver in the past two-and-a-half months.

TOWN WORKING TO CLEAR LAKE ACCESSES

If any of your belongings are sitting on a public beach access around Osoyoos Lake, the Town is about to remove them.
“The Town of Osoyoos has recently had a surveyor complete surveys on all Town properties adjacent to Osoyoos Lake,” stated a sample letter sent out by the Town to a number of property-owners around the lake. “After completion of these surveys, staff toured all these properties.
