RCMP are asking for the public’s help after a suspect pointed a firearm at a business employee in the Okanagan Falls area this morning.

Penticton RCMP and emergency response members converged on a vehicle used in a break-in after a firearm was pointed at one of the employees in the 4,300 block of Weyerhauser Road at 5:07 a.m. on April 1.

Shortly later, an employee with the business observed a black truck with their property parked at a cabin on the 201 Forest Service Road.

“The employee was approaching the truck when a man and woman came out from behind the cabin and the man pointed a firearm at the employee. The man then fled in the truck, leaving the woman behind,” said media relations officer Sgt. Jason Bayda from the Osoyoos RCMP.

Officers located the woman, a 29-year-old Okanagan Falls resident, and took her into custody. Police later located the unoccupied truck at a residence well known to them at Cedar Court.  The truck was previously stolen from Armstrong, Bayda said.

The suspect has not yet been located.  He is described as Caucasian in his 40’s, wearing a black hat and brown jacket.

Penticton RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance for any information on this incident.  If you were in the area of 4,300 Weyerhauser Road, on the 201 or at Cedar Court between 4:30 and 7 a.m. today and witnessed a black truck, police would like to speak to you.
