January 14, 2021

On Thursday, January 14, 2021, Mrs. Olga Rosin (also known as Mom, Oma, Gross Oma, Taunte Ollie) passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at the South Okanagan General Hospital at the age of 90 years.

She was welcomed home by her husband Eduard, her parents, her son-in-law Ron, as well as a number of siblings, nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who went on before.

Her legacy is left to live on in her children, Veronika Williams, and Bernie (Angie) Rosin. Her grandchildren Lana (Dennis) Frandsen, Quinn (Tasha) VanDerMeer, Jason (Bianca) Rosin, Alisha (Colin) Lindsay, Nathan (Sam) Rosin as well as the true delights of her life, her great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Kelsey, Felix, Wyatt, Braydon, Dominic, Damon, Blaine, Corbin, Zander, Daniel, Finnley, and Isabel.

She also leaves behind sisters, Lydia, Elfriede, and Alma. Her many nieces and nephews and two generations of their children.

As well as being a wife and mother, Olga worked as a chef at Chick’s Restaurant in Edmonton and then at the Starlite Restaurant in Osoyoos. She also worked with her husband for many years in the orchard.

Olga was actively involved in the Osoyoos Baptist Church, in the hospitality section, feeding and housing many people in her home. Her cooking is probably the most cherished aspect of her that the grandchildren remember.

She embodied hospitality, no matter who came, from how far away, and no matter how much or how little she had, she always found a meal or caffe and kucken for whoever came to her table. Very rarely was the cake pan not filled with kucken or Bundt cake of one flavor or another. In her later years this changed to several rounds of candy for her great-grandchildren.

She loved to garden and always had fresh flowers on her table, and especially loved her rose garden.

Donations accepted for Far East Broadcasting (FEBCanada) in her name.
