MAGNUS, Arthur Herbert

November 11, 1926 -
November 22, 2020

Our hearts are filled with grief as we say “Farewell” to Arthur Herbert Magnus. Our hearts are filled with joy as we rejoice that he has gone home.

Art was born in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan on November 11, 1926. He died in Surrey, BC, on November 22, 2020, 11 days after his 94th birthday. It was easy to remember and celebrate his birthday, as it was always on a holiday.

Art grew up on a farm in Luseland, SK.  When he left Saskatchewan and moved to BC, he met Mary. They were married in 1952. Together they purchased an orchard in Oliver, BC.

No longer did he farm grain, now it was fruit. No longer was it hundreds of prairie acres, now it was 13.3 acres of cherries, apricots, peaches, pears, prunes, plums, damsons, and apples.

Jesus was the central focus of Art’s life. After living in Oliver a few years, Art and Mary assisted with the plant of the Oliver Alliance Church. While it started small, it is now a thriving church. Art’s desire was to tell others about Jesus. There are many who heard about Jesus, and who were introduced to Jesus because of him.

Art was a wonderful husband and a great dad. He loved his wife, Mary, with all his heart. His eight children were very important to him.

Art is survived by his wife Mary; his children Lyle (Ann), Terry, Charles (Joyce), Cindy (Wilf), Wanda, Adele (Dave), Kevin (Sandra), Gloria (Clint); his grandchildren Robert (Michelle), Eliina (Scott), Dennis, Eliisha (Matt), Benjamin, Sabrina, Steven (Keltie), Victoria (Matt), David (Karalee), Rachel (Trevor), Rebecca (Mark), Eric (Mary), Daryl (Jenessa), Richard (Gillian), Mark (Erynn), Megan, Brianne, Colton (Andrea); and 31 great grandchildren.

Art was predeceased by his parents, all 15 of his brothers and sisters, and his grandson Sean.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
