Carole Louise Bissonnette

On Thursday, January 23, 2020, Mrs. Carole Louise Bissonnette of Osoyoos passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer at the age of 80 years.

She was predeceased by her husband Denis in 2009 and her brother Gerry Matchette in 2001.

Carole will be fondly remembered by her loving family including daughter Laurel (Gary) and granddaughter Kate; son Cameron and grandson Liam and granddaughter Sophie; siblings Pat Cody, Norman Andreassen, Dale Odberg, Clayton Odberg, Paul Andreassen, Karen Andreassen, Kari Fox and Ben Odberg as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Carole started her working career as a comptometer operator for Standard Oil at the Marine Building in Vancouver before working for Sears in Richmond. Denis and Carole moved to Osoyoos in 1978 to operate the Husky Car & Truck Stop. In 1984 they opened the Osoyoos Duty Free Shop.

Carole has been on every continent! She has traveled extensively all over the world, both with Denis and on her own with friends. She especially loved to travel to Norway to visit family.

She was always very involved in her community volunteering her time with the Canadian Cancer Society including the Relay for Life, the Gyro Club of Osoyoos, Grandmothers for Africa and the United Church Thrift Shop.

Carole enjoyed fitness classes, walking, reading, spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. She had a great sense of humour and loved to have fun.

Donations are gratefully accepted for the Canadian Cancer Society.

A celebration of Carole’s life will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday March 7, 2020 at the Watermark Hotel, Osoyoos, BC.
