Rural Osoyoos residents have elected a new water councillor to represent them on town council.
Bob Appleby was voted into the position in a byelection Saturday with 59 votes. Jacob De Raadt received 35 votes.
About 1,100 voters serviced by Town of Osoyoos’ water district Systems 8 and 9 were eligible to vote in the byelection, which took place on Nov. 2 with two advance voting dates in October.
The position opened after former water councillor Kuldeep Dhaliwal was disqualified from council after missing too many consecutive council meetings.
Appleby will serve the remainder of the three-year term.
