Mo Lajeunesse is trying to swap a 1964 Ford Fairlane in order to get his 1955 Ford pickup up and running again.

In his search for a buyer, he came to Oliver from Trail last weekend to show off the Fairlane at the 27th annual Vintage Car Club Swap Meet.

“I’m 60 now and I don’t think I’m ever going to get to it, so, my idea is to sell it and fix my old ‘55 Ford truck,” Lajeunesse said.

He first acquired the Fairlane around 20 years ago. It has never been driven by Lajeunesse as it has no engine. He purchased it in a damaged condition after a “kid burned a donut in a carwash and ran it up on a concrete curb.”

Aside from dissembling the damaged parts, he hasn’t done much work to the automobile.

“You could make it lightweight for racing, or you could restore it – whatever the owner wants to do,” he said. “As long as you have a single or double bay garage, you can start tinkering on it and away you go.”

Lajeunesse is asking $2,500 for the Fairlane. After it sells, he plans on spending the money on parts for his vintage Ford pickup.

“I’m more of a truck guy than a car guy and I’m realizing that this old guy should probably go to someone else. It’s a cool car but I need more room for less stuff.”

Lajeunesse has been in love with his 1955 Ford pickup since he first purchased it in 1978, though he hasn’t been able to drive it in about 25 years.

“It’s a cool old truck. Used to go like hell – six gears forward; overdrive.”
