Police investigated a single vehicle crash north of Oliver last Friday night, when a car sheared a utility pole.
Two men are lucky after surviving a crash north of Oliver last Friday.
RCMP received a report of a single vehicle collision on Highway 97 near River Road on January 29 at 9:44 pm.
Officers attended to find a grey 2008 Dodge Avenger off the road against a sheared utility pole. An investigation suggested the vehicle was heading northbound on Highway 97 just south of River Rd., when it slid on the icy road surface and headed into oncoming traffic. The driver attempted to correct but lost control and the vehicle went off the southbound side into a utility pole.
The 43-year-old male driver and his 64-year-old male passenger, both of Merrit, were transported to South Okanagan General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. They were examined and later released.
The vehicle is believed to have been a total write-off. Utilities were not affected by the damage to the utility pole and traffic patterns remained unaffected. Weather and road conditions are believed to have been significant contributing factors. No charges are being considered.
