Starting a new program can be a very daunting thing to do – even if it has been attempted in town before. Questions like ‘will there be enough interest?’ or ‘where can we do this?’ come to mind and some won’t be answered until we actually get going.

Thanks to the dedication of our volunteers, the awesome school district and the club – we’ve achieved just that.

Soccer is such a versatile sport. It can be played outside as it is during our spring season – or inside.

Growing up my friends and I used to have a lot of fun playing five-a-side at this little astroturf pitch in Perdiswell Sports Centre. It’s the fun, memory making and skill development of that indoor game that we are bringing to Oliver this fall and winter.

Five-a-side has some differences to the soccer everyone is used to seeing in Oliver. You have to really work on your dribbling and passing skills and be ready to get some exercise! In five-a-side the most successful teams are the ones that learn to work together well to score.

Our aim is not only to teach (and build upon from spring season) the skills vital to the game – but to foster that team spirit and sportsmanship that I personally feel is a big part of the magic of soccer.

Over the next 10 weeks, starting on Monday, Sept. 28, we will embark upon this new program and share our experiences with you. If you’re interested in signing your child up for our fall recreational program there is still some space left!

Due to facility space limitation we can only have 20 players in two groups – U4-6 and U7-10. You can sign up by going to the Pinnacles FC website and clicking on the “Club Rec” link at the top of the page. We’re under “Fall Recreational Soccer-Oliver.”  Looking forward to seeing you.
