Oliver is truly a wonderful town filled with so many happy and smiling people; I feel honoured to be a part of it.

We have two open malls or plazas that consist mainly of chain stores and a few single proprietors who all are staffed with wonderful, smiling people. The malls offer plenty of parking which is nice and easy to move around in if necessary. What I hate to see is all the unique and different stores and businesses on Main Street struggling as single proprietors to try and make ends meet.

The speed of 50 km/h does not allow you time to or even a glimpse of what is there. So we the citizens, visitors and travellers go right on by oblivious to what is offered here in Oliver.

If the speed limit could be reduced even for a few blocks, it could be of benefit to so many . . . possibly an increase in business, less vehicle accidents, and it would be much safer for everyone who is trying to cross the street.

Just some food for thought.
