Sockeye Splendor: October 11, Oliver spawning site tour. Okanagan River sockeye have returned to spawn in record numbers. Mature sockeye travel from the north Pacific Ocean to the Okanagan where they spawn at historic sites and recently built spawning platforms. Meet at the Oliver Visitors Centre, 6431 Station Street at 12:45 p.m. Saturday to walk to the Okanagan River Restoration site. Marsh Madness at Bobolink Meadows October 15. 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Join the Nature Conservancy of Canada in caring for Bobolink Meadows wetland, removing invasive species and seeding and planting native plants. Bobolink Meadows near Road 22, is home to a variety of waterfowl, amphibians, and mammals. Please bring lunch, gardening gloves, a shovel and gumboots.
