Woman flees MVA

A 42-year-old Oliver woman who fled the scene of an accident last weekend was issued a violation ticket.

Police responded to a report that a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo had struck a utility pole at the corner of Main Street and Skagit Avenue at 1:05 am on January 26.

The pole had been sheared off at the base and was split lengthwise.  The driver fled the scene, but a subsequent investigation uncovered her whereabouts. She was issued a violation ticket for failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

The woman was also ticketed for having no insurance.

“Speed appears to have played a significant role in this crash,” said Sgt. Ken Harrington.

Witnesses to the incident are asked to call the Oliver RCMP detachment at 250-498-3422.

Police investigate glass mystery

On January 24 at 11:24 pm a resident in the area of Redwing Place reported that a tree in his strata complex had been backed into and there was a pile of glass left behind.

An Oliver detachment investigator attended the scene and confirmed that, given the height on the tree where it was damaged, it was likely a large truck or motorhome that was responsible.

Anyone with information is asked to call the RCMP at 250-498-3422.
