Brothers arrested for car bombing

Two brothers from Oliver are in custody and face charges in connection with the August 11-12 car bombing incident in an alley behind Earle Crescent.

One of the pair was also charged in connection with an incident which occurred shortly after the bombing, where a can of bear spray was discharged in the residence associated to the bombed car.

Police arrested 19-year-old Stephan and 23-year-old Eric Daoust on Thursday, Oct. 24. The pair face a charge of using explosives.

Young offender makes brash statement

People who leave their valuables in unlocked vehicles deserve to have their property stolen, says a local young offender.

Police recently interviewed the thief, who said he preys on vehicles that are not locked.

“A brash statement, but it is provided to give you some insight into the thought patterns of these two-legged racoons,” said Oliver RCMP Sgt. Ken Harrington.

The building under construction in the 300 block of McKinney Road has been identified as becoming a magnet for transients.  The public is asked to watch out for any suspicious activity and report directly to the RCMP.  The more eyes the better.
