It’s a busy time of year at the Osoyoos Golf Club.

The annual Club Championship tournament at the Osoyoos Golf Club will be played next weekend with champions to be crowned after 36 holes of play on Saturday, Aug. 13 and Sunday, Aug. 14.

New club champions will be crowned for men, ladies, senior men and juniors.

All players will play 18 holes on the Desert Gold course and another 18 holes on the Park Meadows course to determine the 2016 club champions.

Registration is also still being accepted for the Osoyoos Mixed Amateur Open that will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20.

“We expect over 100 golfers as in past years for the 1 p.m. shotgun start,” said Audrey McCulloch, the club’s director of marketing and member services.

The mixed amateur open attracts not only a large contingent of local golfers, but players from across the province, she said.

The cost to enter that tournament is $170 per couple, but members of the Osoyoos Golf Club receive a discounted rate.

The tournament package includes green fees with a cart on Park Meadows, complimentary driving range tokens, dinner on Saturday night and prizes for winners in the first four flights.

Most of the players will show up a day early to get in a practice round on Friday, but that is not included in the tournament package. Golfers can play their Friday practice round for only $30 per person on Park Meadows (cart not included).

Those wishing to participate should sign up before the end of business on Wednesday, Aug. 17 and the tournament will be limited to the first 60 teams that sign up.

Additional dinner tickets are being made available on Saturday night for this event.
