Dear Editor:
Being a recent import from northern B.C. to Osoyoos, I am amazed that I’ve not seen any advertising looking for family physicians. I have been to all six local doctors and have been told that none of the practices are open to new patients. Are there any local organizations or is town council actively trying to attract a much needed doctor?
When asked where I could have my prescriptions renewed, I was told to go to walk in clinic in Penticton or visit the Oliver hospital. Smithers, where I lived before coming here, is about the same size, but has regional hospital and enough doctors and clinics to serve community needs. What’s a person to do?
