A thief who allegedly stole a generator early this morning was caught shortly after, red handed.

Oliver RCMP received a report from a local resident today that a generator had been stolen from their property early this morning.

Officers began conducting proactive checks within the community and within a hour of the report, police successfully located the generator, Cpl. Christina Tarasoff said.

The suspect, who was immediately arrested by police, was also driving a truck which had been reported stolen out of Penticton three days earlier.

“A number of items were located in the box of the truck which are also believed to be stolen,” Tarasoff said.

Although the investigation is on-going, the suspect, who resides in Penticton, will be facing a number of charges, including possession of stolen property.

“A job well done by our Oliver officers!” Tarasoff said.
