Osoyoos RCMP have arrested and charged a man and a woman in connection with multiple break and enter and thefts in Osoyoos and Oliver.
Michael Scott Miller, 32, and Angela Michelle Gauthier, 33, both of no fixed address appeared in Penticton Provincial Court on April 28, where they were released on conditions while awaiting trial. Among the conditions, they are to remain out of Osoyoos and Oliver.
In the recent crime spree, suspects entered properties of businesses and residences and stole valuables including tools, antiques and liquor. The thefts were brazenly committed during daylight hours, which ultimately led to identification of suspects by witnesses. They were later located by police and were still in possession of many of the stolen items, Osoyoos RCMP said.
Human remains found at Haynes Point
Human bones were found at Haynes Point Provincial Park on April 29 by a contractor excavating for washroom upgrades.
Osoyoos RCMP said the bones are archaeological and were in close proximity to other archaeological remains found in the past. They were buried between four and five feet deep.
The scene is being further investigated by the Provincial Archeological Branch and will be done in conjunction with the Osoyoos Indian Band and BC Parks, Osoyoos RCMP said.
