Dear Editor:
The sun is shining in Osoyoos and summer is almost here.
That means we are getting closer to the best day of the year in Osoyoos – the day when the skies are lit up over town as part of the annual Osoyoos fireworks display.
Yes, we are talking about the Osoyoos fireworks on Canada Day.
Longtime organizer Frank Zandvliet and his crew of helpers have already started working on the music which is played in synch to the fireworks display.
This is the second-largest fireworks display in Canada and this year we would like to make it bigger and better than ever before.
This is our first year taking over the fundraising aspect for the fireworks committee and we are looking at beating the previous year’s donations and we are asking the people and business owners in Osoyoos for their help.
Donations of $1,000 and over receive free radio and print advertisements and with any donation of over $2,000, you can choose a musical selection the night of the fireworks.
But time is of the essence if you want to see your song in lights.
We appreciated any and all donations we receive.
Remember this event is sponsored by the community for the community.
Our goal is to make this year’s fireworks display an event that no one will ever forget.
Please make cheques payable to Osoyoos Fireworks and can you can call us to pick them up, drop them off at town hall or mail them to 17417 87 Street, Osoyoos, B.C. V0H 1V2.
