OSOYOOS TIMES-November 29, 2009

The next combined H1N1 and seasonal flu shot clinic in Osoyoos will be held on Dec. 1 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Osoyoos Seniors Centre at 17 Park Place.

More than 1,000 doses of the H1N1 flu vaccine have been given out at clinics in Osoyoos so far.

Local doctors also have doses of the vaccine available for administration.

Restrictions on who is eligible for the vaccine were dropped in November and now everyone over the age of six can get the shot.

Interior Health is reporting that more than 200,000 people in its coverage area have received the vaccine since clinics began a month ago.

According to the health authority, one half-dose of the adjuvanted H1N1 flu vaccine provides a sufficient level of protection against the H1N1 flu virus for healthy children between the ages of three and nine.

Adjuvants are additives that boost the immune system’s response to a vaccine.
