NDP shouldn't be propping up a government tainted with scandal
NDP Leader Jack Layton appears to be falling into the abyss of all that is wrong with federal politics in this country.
Layton is using his sink or swim power over the Federal government to force the Liberals to make changes to the health act that will eliminate two-tiered health care.
While it all sounds sincere, we simply don't believe that Layton's motives are as true as he would like Canadians to think.
For starters, why two-tiered health care and why now? Why hasn't Layton held out for more? Why not force the government to spend more money on health care overall? Aren't there other issues just as important or more important?rnWe believe that once again Jack Layton, and the NDP, are grandstanding simply because for the first time in its history it has some real power in Ottawa.
Regardless, even health care issues should not be enough for the NDP and Layton to continue to prop up a corrupt Liberal Party. Paul Martin wants more time, hoping the longer it goes the more chance Canadian's anger over the Sponsorship Scandal and the Gomery Inquiry will subside.
By playing selfish politics, the NDP are allowing that to happen, which is disgraceful.
If we have learned anything from this whole fiasco is that putting a party's interests ahead of those of the country only leads to corruption. The NDP should be front and centre in its condemnation of this government, and we can't help but ask why it isn't?
