Increased flooding has prompted the regional district to order the evacuation of 33 properties in the Sportsmen’s Bowl area due to immediate danger to life safety.
The RCMP, Oliver Fire Department and regional district officials are coordinating the evacuation of residents on Sportsmen’s Bowl Road, Highway 97, Island Road and Test Orchard Road.
An Emergency Social Services reception centre has been established at the Oliver Legion Hall.

Any affected residents staying with family or friends are asked to register as soon as possible by visiting the reception centre or calling the regional district at 250-490-4225.
Officials are asking evacuees to close all windows and doors, shut off all gas and electrical appliances (other than fridges and freezers), close gates (but do not lock them), take critical items (medicine, purse, wallet and keys), and take pets.
The RDOS places 148 residences under evacuation alert on Monday, which still remains in place.
