An Osoyoos man remains in custody and a woman remains in hospital in critical condition following an alleged serious assault Wednesday night.
Osoyoos RCMP Sgt. Jason Bayda reported that police were alerted (at 11 p.m.) to a woman in need of medical attention inside a residence within the golf course subdivision.
Officers responded to the home where they located a 60-year-old woman in medical distress, suffering from obvious trauma.
Bayda said the victim sustained what are believed to be life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
A 62-year-old Osoyoos man has been arrested in connection to the incident.
Roderick Ashley Flavell has since been formally charged with aggravated assault by the BC Prosecution Service and remains in custody.
“Both parties were well known to one another; police believe this was an isolated incident and there is no further risk to the public,” Bayda said.
