A contingent of vehicles will be “honking for unsung heroes” during an appreciation tour in Oliver tonight.

Local paramedics, RCMP officers, firefighters and search and rescue members will be driving around the community paying tribute to health care workers and their dedication during the pandemic.

Vehicles plan to meet at the parks and recreation parking lot at 6:30 p.m. and then head to South Okanagan General Hospital at 6:50 p.m. From there, the group will drive to various locations including Sunnybank Centre and the Okanagan Correctional Centre.

Organizer Glenn Senft indicated it’s a tour to say thanks to everyone on the front lines dealing with the virus.

“Be loud. Be proud!” he said.

Senft noted they are following strict protocols by having no one leave his or her vehicle and keeping mindful of the six foot separation rule.

He is urging members of the public to stay inside their homes.

“This isn’t a parade. You will hear us.”
