This is an artist’s rendering of what the four new welcome signs were supposed to look like. They ended up in a teal colour. (Town of Osoyoos photo)

Dear Editor:

I would like know how many, if any, are dismayed at the newly constructed signs on the four inlet roads, leading into town.

Not meaning to come down too hard on her worship and council, they have made many tough calls in the past, this one just got away from them.

The welcome sign at the intersection of the two highways, in my opinion, is second to none, offering an open invitation to come, join us and be our friends. The signs most recently put in place, to me, send the message, “We are here if you need us.”

The only positive take for me is you don’t notice it until you are right next to it, so it is in your line of vision for a very short time.

To me it looks like some dog did his business in front of the sign and someone ran and placed a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood in front.

Surely the prototype was viewed.

The editor may not be kind enough to print this, but if he can print a disgruntled shopper buying underwear in Omak, I might get a shot.

Editor’s note: The signs that are there don’t follow the design that council approved originally. The supplier “corrected” the original installation, but the colours are still wrong.
