Local artists Michael Jorden and Wendy Wells-Bailey opened an exhibition of their paintings on Saturday at Jojo’s Café. Their paintings on Western themes will be on display throughout August.
The opening was one of the monthly evenings of art and music at the café usually held on the last Saturday of the month and organized by Jim Peltier.
Typically on alternate months Peltier holds an open-mic night when musicians can come on stage and play informally. It’s unrehearsed, but it’s also spontaneous and improvised.
This was just one of the music events last week that is making Osoyoos a hot spot for music and art.

Sisters Claire (left) and Zoey Kennett are enthralled by the music of their uncle Ryan Lamb at an open-mic performance Saturday at Jojo’s Café. The girls had front-row seats. Their mother, Shiho Kennett, said they were sad to leave Osoyoos and the girls said in the car that Uncle Ryan’s performance was their favourite moment of the trip. (Richard McGuire photo)
