The Desert Park Exhibition Society has extended the terms for its directors to three years instead of the previous one year.
Bruce Fuller, who is returning as president, said the longer terms would allow the board to better plan ahead.
The non-profit group held its annual general meeting last Wednesday. The AGM was previously scheduled for March, but it was moved to April due to concerns that members hadn’t sufficiently been notified.
Joining Fuller on the executive are Andrea Zaradic (vice president), Diana Anderson (secretary) and Jeri Falk (treasurer).
Board members are Dr. Henry Kleinhofmeyer, Carol Youngberg, Derek Currie, Sarren Wolfe, Torsten Huebsch and Paddy Head.
The society operates Desert Park and organizes events.
This year’s major event is the Osoyoos Medieval Faire, which is held on the May long weekend.
During the winter, the park provides training facilities for horses, but numbers were down this year due to competing options in Alberta.
New this year, Desert Park has contracted with Sun Hills Riding Centre, owned and operated by Sherry Zarowny and Dave McGlynn, said Fuller.
“This company will be providing a variety of equine activities such as guided horseback rides, lessons, workshops, youth day camps, etc.,” said Fuller.
Oliver Riding Club is also holding clinics and other activities at Desert Park.
