Dear Editor:
I have noticed a lot of comments in your paper about the national park and all the good things it will bring to the area.
Nowhere was there anything mentioned regarding a toll highway. Highway 3 passes through the proposed park.
Is there no mention of a toll highway so people would possibly not vote for a park?
I’m not sure if all national parks have tolls on their highways, but I know there is a toll on the road through Jasper Park.
Having tolls through the park will be a lucrative business, before you get excited about a national park in the valley.
Can we really afford it with the deficit climbing and the government spending so freely with our tax dollars?
I am against having a national park here and do not think we can afford it. How is it that it will be such a moneymaking proposition?
I think we need a lot more details before we decide on this issue and I still believe we do not need this park.
I am thankful for the opportunity to express my opinion.

Editor’s note: As a general rule, Parks Canada requires a park pass for people making stopovers in a national park, but this isn’t required for people simply transiting through. An exception is the Icefields Parkway in Jasper and Banff national parks, which requires a pass for all users.

I recall my wife and I driving to an event in Edmonton and we stopped for about 30 minutes to visit with her niece then working at Jasper Park Lodge. All of that time we were aware and somewhat spoiled our visit with her as we had not PAID the required funds to STOP in this National Park area so we were subject to FINES just to have a short visit with a family member . Do we and all reading this , want to have this type of problem ???
