July 4, 1945 – July 31, 2025

On Thursday, July 31, 2025, Lynette Kathleen Gates of Osoyoos passed away suddenly at the age of 80.

Lynette is survived by her husband John; her three children, Ian, Joanne, and Mark; five grandchildren, Tara, Devan, Neil, Ozzie, and Evie; and beloved dachshund Snoopy.

During her life, Lynette was a nurse and then later worked in retail. She enjoyed meeting and helping people and had a sensitivity to the needs of some by being a good listener. After retirement, she continued this through volunteer work in the community. By nature, Lynette was a caring and loving person with strong faith. She read the bible regularly and prayed each day, wherever she was.

Lynette, John, and family had many opportunities to travel and live in various countries. Over the years, they and their young family lived in the United Kingdom, Bahamas, Canada, New Zealand, Trinidad and the United States. Vacations were family focussed and included some get-away places such as some Pacific and Caribbean islands, Eastern Canada, and the United States.

Lynette had many hobbies including: Sewing – making, altering, and repairing clothes for herself and family, and loved fashion; Gardening – particularly growing flowers and vegetables and fruits; Fitness – walking regularly with her dog, and participating in local fitness programs with John; Art – painting with acrylic during retirement.

The funeral, held at the Osoyoos cemetery August 26, 2025, was private with husband, children, and grand-children present.
