Shirley Ellen Kosman nee Clarke

November 3, 1933 – June 1, 2025

We are sharing the sad news of the passing of Shirley Ellen Kosman (nee Clarke).
Shirley was born in Penticton, BC, on November 3rd, 1933 and passed away in Penticton on June 1, 2025.

She is predeceased by her mother and father, Violet and James Clarke; sister Beverley Byers; brother Ronald Clarke; and nephew Richard Clarke. She is survived by her nephew Jim Clarke (Marianne), niece Shirley Ann Scott (Allen), and cousin Patrick ‘Paddy’ Howard (Sharon).

Upon earning her nursing degree, Shirley worked in Trail and New Westminster for 20 years as a psychiatric nurse. She later changed vocations, studied interior decorating and brought that new talent to her “Briar Shoppe” and “Six Bells in the Attic” in Oliver.

She enjoyed daily walks with her beloved dogs, Teddy and Oliver; attending Pilates classes weekly; and taking bus tours to US Casinos with her lifelong friend, Bev Sterling.
She travelled to Europe, Hawaii, and the Caribbean countries. Shirly loved to entertain and was the consummate hostess. During the winter months, there were memorable evenings gathered around her dinner table and sitting near the crackling fireplace in her cozy apartment.
During the summer months, many will fondly remember gathering on her rooftop patio to enjoy her “world-renowned” French fries, Caesar salad and a glass or two of wine.

Special thanks extended to her Oliver group of friends: Pia, Eleanor, Maggie, Heather, and Betty-Lou…she loved you all very much.

In accordance with Shirley’s wishes, a private family graveside will be held in Penticton in the fall.
