BC Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s assistance after a pedestrian was struck and killed while walking on the side of Hwy. 97 on Sunday, June 15.
In a statement, Oliver RCMP said they were called to a motor vehicle incident at 4:22 p.m. involving a pedestrian who was struck while walking southbound on the side of the road near Cassini Cellars Winery, approximately six kms south of Oliver on Hwy 97.
“Officers attended along with medical personnel to which a 22 year old male from Surrey was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver failed to remain at the scene,” the BC Highway Patrol said adding the incident is currently under investigation.
BC Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s assistance with this investigation and asking for any information or dash cam video during this time and location.
“BC Highway Patrol is reaching out to the individual or individuals responsible and asking them to do the right thing and contact the RCMP immediately.”
