Gladys Misson (Gigi)
December 5, 1932 – September 9, 2024
After a long life with a short illness, Gladys passed peacefully at home on September 9th. Living independently in Osoyoos, she spent her final few weeks, in Oliver with her daughter Nola and granddaughter and her husband Dawn and Ken MacRae. As she lived her life, she was lovingly cared for.
Predeceased by her father, Eric Flinton; mother, Nora Ault Flinton; step mom/aunt, Maude Ault Flinton; husband, George Misson; partner, Robert Anderson; three sisters, and their spouses, Isabel Vroom (Bob), June Spurling (Roger), Noni Alexander (Dave); two brothers, Norm Flinton, Rob Flinton (Cheryl).
Gladys, affectionately called Gigi, leaves to mourn her four children, Gina Ironmonger (Rob), Nola Williams, Gary Misson (Monte), Ben Misson (Lori); grandchildren, Dawn MacRae (Ken), Chris Darbyson (Emi), Melissa Cameron (Darcy), Desiree, Shaelyn and Eric; sister-in-law, Marion Flinton and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Life was not always easy, but with her positive attitude, she always faced obstacles with steadfast joy, stubbornness and adventure. Spunky, sassy and a great sense of humour, she praised and cursed, often in the same sentence.
She loved and cared for her family and friends unconditionally. You never left without a hug and an “I Love You” from her.
Her zest for life was often shared. Whether travelling across Canada, the north, kayaking, Europe, Mexico or just a walk along the beach or forest trail, gardening or a simple meal, it was always an adventure filled with fun, laughter, sometimes tears, but, always with a sense of belonging.
Her family would like to thank family, friends for their prayers, visits and numerous acts of kindness. Thank you to Interior Health Nurses, Care Givers and Red Cross who made her life more comfortable and enabled her wish to not go into a care facility.
In honour of her wishes, at a future date, Glady’s remains will be spread, where she was lovingly raised, in Ladysmith, BC.
As Gigi would say, Keep on Truck’n and if It’s To Be, It’s up to me.
