Leslie Kim Marriott

January 25, 1959 – August 17, 2024

Leslie was predeceased by her father Clifton Marriott, June 3, 2019, and her niece, Caitlin Ikoma, April 23, 2016.

Leslie was born in Kitimat, BC. From the moment she was born, she had two missions in life. One was to be a protector which she did fiercely for all of her siblings, and the other was to explore the world and test her limits. She started her rock collection as a toddler, and by 5 she was climbing the tallest trees in the neighbourhood. Leslie had an infinite curiosity which led her to excel in all she endeavored: sports, academics, and career.

She loved to travel, and explore the natural world. She felt rejuvenated by it. Nothing made her happier than nature even in her own backyard. She loved her little piece of nature. The birds, the frogs, the deer and more were all her friends.

Leslie was also generous with her time, and volunteered with several organizations after early retirement, using her management accounting background to great advantage, but most especially with the Grandmothers to Grandmothers, a part of the Stephen Lewis Foundation, something she did with her mom, Eunice.

In addition, she donated to various organizations, including her niece’s KPU Memorial Award, and to an AIDS orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya. We may never know how many organizations benefitted from donations.

We will miss her keen, dry wit, her intellect, her generosity, her curiosity, and her support in times of trouble. In everything we do, we should aspire to the same attributes.

We, her family, like to think she is now with Dad and Caitlin. They walk alongside us on their second journey.

A Celebration of Life for Leslie will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday October 5, 2024 at the Oliver Elks Hall, 477 Bank Avenue, Oliver, BC.
