With a potentially tight race shaping up in the Similkameen-South Okanagan-West Kootenay riding, NDP Leader, Jagmeet Singh has announced two campaign events in the South Okanagan including Penticton and Oliver, on the eve of the federal election.
Singh and local candidate Linda Sankey will host a rally on Sunday morning at the Dragonboat Pub on Skaha Lake. Supporters and interested locals are invited to join for what the NDP says will be an “energetic rally” from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Following that the NDP leader’s bus will head to Oliver to join in the region’s largest Vaisakhi celebration.
The Oliver Gurdwara invites the public, as it does every year, to join in Vaisakhi celebrations with the parade starting at the Gurdwara at 10:45 and ending at the Community Hall at the Oliver Community Park.
The campaign shared that, “Momentum is high and we’ve had many requests for the Leader. We’re excited to have Jagmeet return with his positive message of hope and delivering results for Canadians.”
“We are offering voters a chance to vote for something, for action on climate change, for expanding services including pharmacare, mental health care supports, and senior’s care to make life more affordable for those struggling,” said Sankey.
“The NDP has a record of keeping the government accountable to its promises. We need NDP MPs in Ottawa to defend and deliver services and investments for everyday Canadians,” she added.
This will be the second time Singh has wrapped his national tour in Penticton. The federal election is scheduled the day after the rally on Monday, April 28.
